Principal's Message

It's AIMS month!  Everything that we have been working incredibly hard on and focused on in the classroom is now going to be assessed during our AIMS during the week of April 7th - 11th.  I am very excited as our students, teachers, and staff have all been working together endlessly as a TEAM and with D.R.I.V.E. to grow, achieve, and be successful throughout the school year.

I would like to remind everyone that there are specific strategies that you can do to ensure that you are ready for your AIMS assessment.  They are:

  • Go to bed early!  Middle School Students need at least 8-10 hours of sleep every night.
  • Eat a healthy breakfast in the morning.  GMS will be providing a breakfast everyday during the week of AIMS.  Please take advantage of this service, as it's available to every student at Gililland Middle School.
  • Stay Focused during the test.  It's important that you are focused and doing your absolute best on the AIMS assessment.  Your score reflect you, your teacher, and GMS.  We want everyone at GMS to achieve their individual goals as well as our school-wide goal of becoming a "B" school.
  • Use your test taking strategies.  Prior to the AIMS assessment, students have been practicing and getting mentally and physically prepared for the test.  In addition, teachers have been showing short video clips of how to apply test-taking strategies to your assessment.

I want to thank you all for your continued support of Gililland Middle School.  At GMS, we want to continue to grow and achieve in a positive direction.  Through your support we will be able to accomplish anything.  Remember that at GMS we are a FAMILY, if you need anything or have any concerns, please contact us.

Go Roadrunners!
